Dear Members of the Canadian Canon Law Society,
I write you today to announce the appointment of a new Secretary and a new Treasurer for the Canadian Canon Law Society. The previous role of the Secretary-Treasurer was very demanding. It was difficult to find an individual who possesses the necessary expertise in both fields as well as the available time to carry out this role. On October 19, 2022, the Membership at the AGM voted to approve the separation of the position of Secretary-Treasurer into two separate roles.
The Executive would like to introduce Kay Weerasooriya, as the new Treasurer and Robert Lariviere, as the new Secretary for the Society. Upon Kay’s resignation as Secretary-Treasurer, both Kay and Robert were appointed by the Executive Board, in virtue of article 9.6 of the revised bylaws. Kay and Robert will complete their respective terms, ending in 2025. The appointment of the new Secretary and Treasurer was to ensure that the Executive would be in conformity with the revised bylaws.
On behalf of the Executive and Members of the CCLS, I would like to welcome, both Kay and Robert. Thank you for your generosity and service!
Michael Fahlman
President
