Registration for CLSA’s Penal Advocate Training Workshop is now open to all canonists with an interest in serving as an advocate in penal or administrative disciplinary processes or those who assist bishops and religious superiors in these matters.
The workshop will be hands-on and interactive; the focus will not be on the penal process but rather on case studies of clergy facing various disciplinary processes, reviewing them both procedurally and jurisprudentially, as well as reviewing sample decrees and other documents. There will be opportunities for group discussion on best practices, on the part of both the ordinary and the advocate, to lead to a just and fair resolution.
Those with no penal advocacy experience are welcome and encouraged to attend. All attendees are requested to review the basics of penal procedures before attending.
